Enduring Understanding
After successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Have the basic understanding of the Pinyin system so that they can pronounce some of sounds used in modern standard Chinese correctly; Some nursery rhymes, ancient poems and tongue twisters are provided to make Pinyin learning more enjoyable.
2. Understand and speak some simple Chinese sentences related to greetings, number counting, body parts and family members.
3. Recognize and read simple Chinese characters and have a primary understanding of the rules of Character writing, such as the basic strokes and stroke-order.
4. Obtain a preliminary understanding of Chinese culture through culture themed mini-projects.
